EagleTac M3C4 TRIPLE LED Flashlight, Black Review

This is the warning that should be given on the box, documentation, and any web page dedicated to this family of products. It is unforgiveable that EagleTac would manufacture a heavy flashlight like this with a plastic end cap and control ring. If the flashlight is dropped, even from a very low height, it is very likely to land on the end cap, and in this case would likely disintegrate on contact, rendering the light useless. I cannot fathom what was going through their heads when EagleTac was designing this light.

There are definitely some neat features to M3C4 Triple XM-L. The beam itself is just what I expected. Nice floody spot. Huh, how can it be a spot and a flood? Well, it is. It's got a really bright, long throw, but also has a nice transition from spot to spill that gives it a floody effect. The light comes with a diffuser which I don't think is needed on this version, because it's already somewhat diffused; so I'm not using it, even though this is one of the reasons I bought this light. I wanted a really bright, slightly diffused beam, and the M3C4 Triple XM-L nailed that perfectly.

I really like that they gave a second tail cap with a switch; I put mine on immediately, and I prefer it. You can't tailstand with the switch on, but this light isn't really a tailstander anyway - too topheavy - so I don't feel like I'm giving up anything here.

I could go on, but featurewise this light stacks up to everything I expected from it. All the features you see in the product description and video demos are all true, and if it was manufactured with better quality in mind it would be worth every penny. However, to me, this light went from 5 stars to 3 because of the unforgiveable and unnecessary blunder of putting plastic parts on the outside. Shame on you EagleTac, you ruined a perfect flashlight!

If mine was lost or stolen, I would likely look for a different alternative.
