I used this light to replace a 52 year old fluorescent light (that had four T12 tubes) in the ceiling of our dining room. This light uses four T8 tubes and an electric ballast. The old fixture had a magnetic ballast. This new light was too bright and I removed the two tubes nearest the light center. The light is now half as bright, but still functions as it did with four tubes. (I should have bought a two tube fixture.) My wife and I read a lot at the dining table and need a good lighting. The magnetic ballast of the old fixture had obviously degraded with age and was far less efficient than this new light. I discarded the mounting hardware and used toggle bolts. Grades I give this light are: Cost of the product: C- especially since it did not come with light tubes, Ease of installation: B+, except for the light diffusing cover, Efficiency of light generation: A+, Apparence: A, Ease of installation of the diffuser cover: F. The cover is nearly impossible to install. I installed it and removed it several times for various reasons. Each time it was very difficult
