Rockler 7'' Quick Release Workbench Vise Review

I've had this vise for about a year and continue to find it very useful. It mounted it to my shop-made workbench very easily, and it seems to be holding up very well. the faces are straight and parallel, and there is very little racking when clamping a board on one side. I've read other reviews where people had trouble with the quick-release not working consistently, but I've never had a problem with mine. Some people may need a larger vise, but the small size works well in my small shop.

There are two things that could be improved to go from 4 to 5 stars, though. First, the movement isn't smooth when sliding open and closed. Second, the screw for the dog is hard to turn. Neither of these affect the usefulness, but it does distract from the work experience. I got mine for a considerable discount at their retail store, and will say that at regular price, I might look more closely at other options. With the discount, I'm content with very useful vice.
