Assembled this stand and mounted my Hitachi C12FDH, my only concern being the durability of the orange plastic in hot Florida garages. Then I discovered a serious flaw. The wheels in the illustration on this site are shown mounted in the upper position, for use only when folded. Their axles snap into holes in the frame where plastic clips hold them in place. What the illustration does not show is their lower position on the same legs, where they presumeably allow you to reposition the rig around while you are working. The axle mounts are angled to attach to the pre-drilled legs, acheiving axles parallel to floor. But they position the wheels slightly higher than the legs! In other words, the wheels are useless lifting the other end to reposition the stand pivots on the leg ends, not the wheels.
I called Portamate and was told that the wheels mounts at the bottom of the legs are not designed to move the saw while in use. To use them, you have to remove the saw, and tilt the other end high in the air (really high) so the wheels touch and roll. I pointed out that in a workshop environment with overhead florescent tubes, etc., that also means closing the extensions for clearance. It also means that illustrations of the wheels in the lower position are highly misleading. Portamate was adamant - but could not provide any design insights as to why they even bothered with such mounts. This is a fatal flaw and I either return this or drill new holes for the mounts closer to the floor (voiding the warranty in the process.
