I ordered these for the unfinished stairway to the new finished walk out basement of our cabin. The dogs were wary of the stairs without carpet and I was concerned about carpeting the entire stairway because of cost and cleaning issues.We primed and painted the steps first.Our stairway is 36" wide and we selected the 27" wide treads. They came with peel off tape and my husband used more double-sided carpet tape for good measure. He installed.them in less than an hour. We got the dark brown which is like a dark brown heather and are very happy with them. They dogs aren't afraid of the stairs anymore and the dark brown heather doesn't show dirt (great for a lakeside cabin situation). It makes the stairway look nicely finished withiut the hight cost of wall to wall carpet on the stairs.
