About the size of a large candy bar, this emergency ration tastes a bit like dry cookie dough with a hint of lemon. Although dry in consistency, this bar isn't thirst inducing. The bar is mostly highly fortified flour and sugar. From a nutritional standpoint you get 100% or more of the major vitamins by eating all three of the segmented bars. In looking at the ingredient list I didn't see anything that would require a chemistry degree to understand. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to live on this stuff, but at about a third the weight and bulk of an MRE, this is a great emergency alternative.
