It comes with instructions, and security screws to make installation simple - it took two people less than one hour, and we had to modify the frame for it to fit - this would not be typical; we purchased this house last winter, with a home made, non standard door and frame. Had we not needed to modify the frame,it would have taken thirty minutes to fit this item. I will be purchasing another when I have figured out how to make the other non standard door of this house more 'normal',
