Looking at the photo of this light, I believed that the heavy cased-glass shade would arrive and be white or off white in color--which would match my decor. When it arrived, however, the shade was a dark amber color. <sigh> I needed to get some light up in the intended area, so decided to work with the undesired color. There was a dirty smudge on the glass, and within the paperwork that accompanied the light were directions on how to clean the glass. We followed the directions to the letter (no Windex here!) and to our amazement, the dark amber coating began to rub off with the first touch of a soft, damp cloth. by the time we were finished washing (gentle soap, lint free cloth, warm water), all of the amber was gone, and the light was the white color I had hoped for. Great ending for me, but if you want this with a dark amber shade...DON'T WASH OR WIPE IT. Other than that, I give this 4 stars because it is a lovely light. Heavy shade...looks like an ice cube with frosted glass interior. Beautiful.
